When it comes to the application of Trihydroxymethyl aminomethane (Tris base , CAS No: 77-86-1 ), we are familiar with its application in biological buffers, cosmetics, scientific research, cell culture, pharmaceutical excipients, which is also the most consulted field of most raw material manufacturers. In fact, there are many other applications of Schiff base that have been "buried". Recently, a customer inquired whether our product can be used to synthesize Schiff base, which made me more curious about its application. Here, I have arranged some unusual applications for your reference only. 

 

1. Synthesis of Schiff base by reduction of Trihydroxymethyl aminomethan

The Schiff base with  Trihydroxymethyl aminomethan has the properties of chelation, heat resistance, liquid crystal and intrinsic electrical conductivity. After by iodine doped conjugated poly schiff base conductivity can be increased about eight orders of magnitude, making it to the level of the semiconductor, schiff base found that doping materials has good stability, electrochemical activity and photoconductivity, not only that, using the Trihydroxymethyl aminomethan solvent synthesis of schiff base, directly to schiff base out of the plight of polymer processing and characterization with great difficulty, Conductivity increases

 

2. Application of Trihydroxymethyl aminomethane on modified activated carbon

Activated carbon to absorb the harmful gas. Trihydroxymethyl aminomethane was used to prepare activated carbon has the following advantages: (1) in guarantee modifier on the appearance of the modified small molecules, and the ratio of activated carbon fiber sheet, the porous structure of activated carbon in them are destroyed, so as to better the adsorption of harmful substances in the air, increasing the adsorption capacity; (2) the preparation method is relatively mild, less pollution, easy to scale up production and to a certain extent to ensure the environment; (3) The adsorption capacity of activated carbon modified by chemical reagents such as Trihydroxymethyl aminomethane can be increased to 40-60 mg SO2 /g, which is 4-6 times higher than that before modification.

 

3. The use of Trihydroxymethyl aminomethane in flame retardant

Trihydroxymethyl aminomethane can be used in the production of alumina flame retardant, does not contain water and high purity equal characteristics, and has higher electronic insulation, corrosion resistance of electrolyte, thermal stability, as a flame retardant has enough electrochemical and chemical stability, homogenating effect is good.
